Ninety miles. One day. Five farm stops, a roadside stand, and a hard cider at the end. This is the definitive Fruit Belt road trip, designed for peak blueberry season in late July but adaptable for any time summer through fall.
The Route: South Haven → Holland → West Olive → Grand Haven
The beauty of the Fruit Belt corridor is that almost everything runs along or near US-31 and Blue Star Highway. No complicated navigation, no doubling back. Just drive north and stop often.
1
DeGrandchamp Farms — South Haven
9:00 AM
Start early while the fields are cool and uncrowded. DeGrandchamp opens at 9am on weekdays and their blueberry rows are among the most productive in the region. Budget 45–60 minutes for picking, then grab an ice cream or a sandwich from their store before you head north. Pro tip: buy a flat (10 lbs) and freeze half when you get home.
2
Bumbleberry Acres — South Haven
10:30 AM
Just 15 minutes north, Bumbleberry is the family-friendly cousin to DeGrandchamp — more activities, a petting zoo, bakery, and flowers to pick alongside the blueberries. If you have kids, give this one an extra 30 minutes. The lemon blueberry cookies from the bakery are the trip highlight for many visitors.
3
Crane Orchards — Fennville
12:30 PM
About 40 minutes north through some of the most beautiful agricultural landscape in Michigan. Crane is the perfect lunch stop — their on-site restaurant and bakery are genuinely excellent, not just passable farm food. Order the pie sampler. Walk the corn maze if it's open. The orchard u-pick is apple-focused, so this stop is most worthwhile in September, but the market and restaurant are worth it year-round.
📍 Detour option: Bella Vista Farm is directly across the road from Crane. If you want apples without the crowds, duck in here while you're in Fennville.
4
Bowerman Blueberries Farm Market — Holland
2:30 PM
Bowerman is only open Thursday–Saturday, so time your trip accordingly. What you get for that constraint is one of the most fun farm experiences in the region — blueberry pizza (trust us), hard cider, donuts, and a market stocked with creative blueberry products. On summer Saturdays they often have live music. This is the social hour of the trip.
5
Reenders Blueberry Farms — West Olive
4:30 PM
Your final farm stop and arguably the best-stocked farm market on the route. If you didn't buy enough blueberries earlier, buy them here — pre-picked and by the flat. Their blueberry donuts are legendary. Grab jarred jams and salsa for gifts. The store is open until 8pm, which gives you a comfortable window.
The Drive Home
From West Olive, Grand Haven is just 20 minutes north. End the day with your feet in Lake Michigan and your cooler full of fruit. The light off the lake at 7pm in July is the kind of thing that makes you book the same trip for next year before you've even left.
